Name and Number: Alexander (Alex) Kirkland -- #158
Nation: Commonwealth of Australia
Gender: Male
Age: 17 years old
Year: 3rd Year
Birthday: 26th of January
Team: Red
Personality:
Alex has an exceedingly outgoing personality, liking to create as many close friendships as possible. Being a social person by nature, and originally being of a culture where mates were necessary, the Aussie may latch on to many people to avoid what he ultimately fears- being alone. Although he often is smiling and happy, he can, at times, have low moments. But, being Alex, he can quickly bounce back out of these.
He would defend those closest to him with no hesitation. The fact that that often resulted in the use of fists led to several suspensions in the past. But, well, he didn’t see that as a bad thing necessarily. However, Alex did often feel a little guilty for acting before thinking.
A favourite pastime of Alex’s is to annoy people, in an affectionate manner of course. His favourite targets are England and New Zealand. Another is sport, which he likes to dominate at. Alex’s favourite is AFL, and rugby. However, because not many others from other countries know AFL, he contents himself playing rugby, particularly with the Kiwi.
History:
Alex was raised in various places around Australia, often moving for no apparent reason at all. A good strong hand to his backside had kept him in check for most of his childhood, although often he rebelled with the threat of punishment. Hitting puberty, the Australian had undergone a massive change and he became more egotistical (if that were at all possible) and self-confident, Alex also began to rebel more. Even going so far as to threaten to leave home permanently and become independent. Of course, those threats were empty at best. He also tended to get into fights, especially when someone came threatening those closest to him.
He is slightly confused about his relationship with New Zealand, not sure whether he is his actual brother or not. Being who he is, Alex refuses to admit that he likes the other boy at all, although he had offered, rather suggestively, that the Kiwi move in with him.
The other students he has fairly okay friendships with, particularly Alfred. He gets along with everyone, even those he may have had brief conflicts with in the past.
He attended private schools for much of his life, largely all-boys, but after being suspended, his parents had pulled him out and placed him in the public schooling system.
His teasing of Arthur and the Kiwi are not personal. It’s just a cultural thing he had grown up with, watching his parents reactions to the cricket and rugby. It is because of this that Alex had become determined to be a great sportsman, and captain the Australian team to victory. Although he no longer dreams of becoming a sportsman, he would still love to see his sportsman succeed.
When told that he would be attending a school in a completely different country, Alex had hesitated some before being told that New Zealand would be attending also. Hearing that, he had quickly agreed. Although he won’t admit to anyone that the blonde was the only reason he was going. (He didn’t really have to, it was so obvious)
School Identity:
Alex, upon arriving at World Academy, had quickly signed himself up for the cricket and rugby teams. Although he was hoping to be the captain of the rugby team, he is content to simply take vice-captaincy. Less work, he figured. However, with cricket he was determined to take the place of captain.
Although he signed up for study help, Alex’s extreme laziness and ‘I can’t be bothered right now’ meant he often missed any tutoring he may have needed.
Homework he is extremely lazy about, able to come up with very creative (and completely unrealistic) reasons why he couldn’t hand it in. Before arriving at the school he had brushed up on a few of his good ones in preparation.
Alex is well known for his happy-go-lucky attitude and inability to be quiet. Well, he can but under duress.
Skills:
Alex is quite the talented sportsman, probably one of the best in the world (in his head at least). He loves cricket, soccer (not football dammit), rugby and AFL (real football mate). He is actually quite intelligent, when he can actually put his mind to the task. Usually Alex is simply too lazy. Laziness and the ability to do absolutely nothing was a skill in his mind.
Another skill is cooking. Although he isn’t public about it, and refuses wholeheartedly to join the cooking club, he enjoyed making food for himself mostly.
Another skill was stealth, which he often used to sneak into Bry’s room undetected, although his stealth skills were beginning to falter some.
He is also quite good at science, although, due to an excess of laziness he never got the grades he otherwise could have.
RP Sample:
Alex had, unwittingly, chosen to sit next to Bryson as he listened to the principal drone on. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to sit next to his cousin; it just was done instinctively, a kind of comfort. His ability to pay attention, especially when it came to boring lecture-like talks, was short, so he often relied on someone else to listen for him. Leaning back, Alex decided to listen in for the last little bit. Something about picking a team? The hell? He was so accustomed to having his ‘team’ picked for him. Usually the school was divided into four houses: red, blue, green and gold. Usually with a classier name, mostly something in an Aboriginal dialect.
Leaning back in his seat some, Alex began to wonder exactly what sort of school this was. Obviously some American thing, he thought with a small, instinctive shrug. As each number was called, he slowly became more and more bored. Watching as the Kiwi walked up to decide his team, Alex couldn't help the smirk that was tugging at the side of his mouth. Threaten him, yeah? Well, maybe I'll just pick the same team! Threaten me all you want, he thought, crossing his arms. That just made picking all the more easier. No need to think. Bry picked for me. Finally, his number was called.
"Australia? 158?"
Pushing himself up from his seat, Alex strode up the front, hands in pockets, making a point of shooting a 'suck it' grin at the Kiwi. "I choose... red", Alex said clearly, before walking back to his seat. What are you going to do about it princess? He sat down, grinning wide at Bry.
With that, Alexander Kirkland decided that this year would be great. And very fun indeed.
Other:
-I may add more traits to Alex's personality. Make him more multi-dimensional.
-Being an Australian, I will be on at very odd hours for those in the US and such.
-Was dragged here kicking and screaming by Bryson... //Joke.
