Name and Number: Arthur Kirkland, 42.
Nation: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, specifically England.
Gender: Male.
Age: 18
Year: Year Four
Birthday: April 23
Team: Blue
Personality: Arthur is a serious and deep-thinking fellow, but lets loose when drunk (perhaps a little too loose). Of course, this is a school, so one would rarely see this side of him unless they managed to slip alcohol in his tea. Otherwise, though he appears to be a gentleman, he can be rather sarcastic and stubborn if irritated or when he has to defend himself. He is known to be easily offended if you find just the right subject to tease/insult him in, and is known to become defensive when offended. He may appear to be a bit cynical, but he can be quite kind and affectionate, and often tries to cover up his true feelings with sarcastic remarks and/or insults. Arthur can be rather bossy, particularly if he decides that he is in charge of someone. He appears to be rather cold, but is devoted to those he becomes close to and cares for; he just has a little difficulty showing it sometimes. Freud might say he overuses his reaction formation defensive mechanism.
History: Arthur rarely saw his parents as a child. He grew up with his grandparents in a small town northern England, who raised him to be a proper and good child. He was a rebellious young toddler, but his grandparents worked carefully to counter that by teaching him manners. Yet even as a lad, that he would play in the front yard with a plastic sword
He grew out of this as he grew older, becoming more of a "proper and polite English gentleman" and eventually his parents came to visit him often. Either he would leave to visit them in bigger cities or he would go with them on their "business trips" overseas. Arthur was never quite sure what these business trips were about. Sometimes they would last for weeks, other times months. He would schooled by his parents during these trips and by his grandparents when he was home in England. During these business trips, he has met many different kinds of people. Some of them are in attendance of World Academy now.
Eventually, these trips stopped when he reached the age one would begin attending secondary school. Suddenly, his parents wanted him to attend a school in Michigan. Arthur was skeptical, but obliged to his parents wishes. It was only after his first year did his parents let them know what was going on during his "business trips." Arthur still isn't sure what to think about their occupations. "Well-known" and "spies" seem like contradictory terms to him.
I am well aware that there are a bunch of characters that I should be mentioning here, but I'm waiting for them to sign up so I can talk with them. If you want to connect Arthur's past to your character, do get into contact with me! I have all my information here~ ^^
School Identity: Arthur has been attending the school since his first year, and since then has proven that not many people can become quite fond of him. Uptight and bossy, Arthur is generally not the student people go around for fun. As a Student Council member, his main contacts are in the Student Council (because he won't leave them alone and forces them to work.) He does participate in the Fencing Club and Archery Club whenever he can manage to attend meetings. He's a member of the Cooking Club and carries a rather...notorious reputation amongst the other members. He's a journalist that specifically covers club activities. Arthur works at a restaurant in town over the weekend as a waiter.
Skills: Arthur would like to think that he is skilled in cooking, but pretty much everyone knows that isn't true. He is in denial. Other than that, he can be very good at organising and keeping order...until someone makes him angry, but that's a different story. He is studious and serious when it comes to his work. He is quite the adept writer (Shakespeare, guys), so English is his best class. Related to the school, he has very good aim due to archery classes he took as a child. Arthur is also rather good at spying on the opposing side so long as they don't discuss him personally (but can never compare to Matthew's ability to fade into the background.)
RP Sample: The opening assembly was no different than any of the others he had attended over the course of his years here at World Academy. The principal droned on about rules and regulations, gathering some surprised reactions from the first year students. Arthur was used to these reactions and the rules himself, but nevertheless paid close attention to his principal, resting his head in a pale hand, elbow propped up on his chair's armrest.
His listening paid off when the principal began announcing a type of school competition. Arthur didn't recognise anything of this sort from his previous years; he immediately let his hands fall to his lap, straightening his posture unconsciously as if it helped him pay more attention than he was previously. The school was to be divided into teams, competing for points by using the skills they learnt in school against each other.
Bloody hell... Arthur stiffened slightly; he couldn't say he was too fond of the idea since it seemed like it would be a hassle. However, if the principal thought this would improve the students' skills, Arthur would not object. Arthur scowled, reminding himself of his place before he became too irritated. He couldn't object, not to his elder and certainly not to his principal.
He grumbled a bit as the principal read off names, listening for his own with a minor discontent. No matter where he was assigned, it was going to be a hassle.
"Male United Kingdom. Number 42." Arthur decided to bring his old number with him to his fourth year to avoid confusion.
Arthur stood, quickly making decisions as he walked up to the microphone. First, it would be a better experience to participate. Second, most people were opting for the Blue team, meaning more teamwork would be needed. "Hello," He hesitated for a moment in front of the microphone, trying to remember if there was anyone who he disliked on Team Blue. No names were coming to mind, unfortunately, and he was feeling the time pass quickly. It would be bad to make the ceremony longer than needed.
"I will be joining Team Blue. I look forward to working with you all. Thank you."
With that, he straightened out his blazer and walked back down the stairs of the stage, sitting down calmly. It was his last year, so how much could go wrong? If anything got out of hand, he would have the student council handle it.
Other: Umm. I could have been tacky and made his number 0523, but heck. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is British, and the main character's name is Arthur. 8| There's a bit of justification in me shoving my preferences into Artie's subconscious?
I'm so insanely
